Steering wheels are dirtier than bathroom

British study indicates that for each 6.45 cm2 of a bathroom are found 80 bacteria, a flywheel is 700

A study conducted by researchers from Queen Mary University of London, revealed that the wheel of a car may be dirty and nine times more infected than a bathroom. Investigators found about 700 bacteria living in 6.45 cm2 of each wheel, while only 80 bacteria were found, for example, covers for toilet.

The director of the biomedical science Univerdidade Queen Mary, Ron Cutler, explained that one of the bacteria most commonly found on wheels is the "Bacillus cereus", a microorganism that can cause food poisoning and is easily found in pasta, potatoes and rice.

"While most of the bacteria found do not cause health problems in some cars were found a considerable amount of species and potentially harmful bacteria," said Ron Cutler.

This study also revealed that 42 percent of drivers usually eat in the car regularly and, in the UK, ten percent of drivers admitted they never cleaned the inside of their vehicles.

"The interior of a car has the perfect environment for bacteria to proliferate, especially if people eat inside. To avoid potential health risks, it would be advisable for people to regularly clean the interior of your car, "said Ron Cutler.
